Title: Fowell of Coney Weston and Elvedon Suffolk
Post by: suemccall on Sunday 08 November 15 03:44 GMT (UK)
Searching for the parents of Richard Fowell b. 1760 d. 1820 of Quidenham, Nathaniel b. 1765 d. 1825, and Henry b. 1770. See attachment regarding Henry's portrait.

I have found a number of trees stating parents were William Fowell and Sarah Nicholls but haven't been able to substantiate that.  Would be grateful for any help.

Just thought I'd mention that in my research of the Essex Fewell family it appears that in some Essex parishes there was a tendency to spell the name Fewell as Fowell.  Whether this occurred also in Suffolk I have no idea, I have only just recently turned my Fewell research efforts to Suffolk where the originator of my Essex line is said to have come from, Giles Fewell baptised 1581 at Withersfield, Suffolk.

Regards.

Have you looked at http://www.itteringham.com/families/family-fowell.html
If you can make a connection to your tree there are lots of photos of family members.

Here's a quote from the site "it's believed that the Fowell family has been farming in the area since 1745, the earliest mention so far found of the Fowell family is in the parish registers. Between 1795 and 1809 Edmund and his wife Ursula Fowell had eight children baptised at the church, seven of whom survived childhood. The sons included Edmund (the eldest), Robert, John, William and Samuel.
Itteringham is only about 15 miles from  West Rudham as mentioned with regard to Sarah Nickols (possibly Nichols)
