Please can anyone identify the location of this photograph.
It is of a group which includes my father-in-law, who was in Egypt from 1942 to 1945.
On the back it says Official Military Photographer, Jerusalem.
Does anyone recognize the building behind the group? It may or may not be actually in Jerusalem.
As you can see by the posts we are following where he went in WWII. It is so interesting. And like most people we wish we had asked our parents more.
Thank you
Judy

It looks a bit like The Dome of the Rock to me :-\

That was quick Jen. :D
I think it is too.
Now can you identify the Egyptian Man with them standing on the left hand side? ;D ;D
Thank you.
Judy.

That's Mustapha, surely you must have recognised him. !

Thanks Per Quist. ;D

Jeffrey, Which regiment or Corps was he in, do you know?
-
The civilian could be just a tour guide, or could be a translator or interpreter, possibly?
-
Yes I think he is most likely a tour guide too.
He was in the RAF Volunteer Force as an Aircraft Mechanic

Seems to be the South Courtyard, just behind the fountain.

Really good second pic find, you've aced that, and pics like that, are surprisingly sparse, despitethat being such a world famous structure. Anyway, that proves that I was right, it definitely was Mustapha.

Thank you. Yes it is a really good picture and you can see it is the same location really well.
