Hi, would you have his parents' names from his marriage certificate to Amy Doney Thomson? Also, do you know if he was ever in the service especially during WW1? Kim

Hi, I found the parents John & Rose in the 1901 census;

1901 Scotland census:
240 High Street, Linlithgow, West Lothian

John McTague   age:36  born:1865 Rumford, Stirling   occ: stone quarryman
Rose Ann McTague  age:37  born: 1864 Linlithgow  wife
Catherine McTague  age:6  born: 1895  Linlithgow  daughter
John McTague  age:11  born: 1890  Linlithgow  son
James McTague  age:1 month  born: 1901  Linlithgow  son

** In the 1891 census John says he is born in Polmont, Stirling and at that time John & Rose only had 1 child listed Elizabeth  age 10 months  born in 1890.
I cannot find Hugh anywhere in the 1891 nor 1901 census.

I wonder is there any way that Hugh could be much older than you think???

In the 1881 census, there are 2 Hughs that are interesting.

Hugh McTague  age:17  born:1864  Dumbarton   living in Paisley, Renfrewshire with his parents John & Catherine

Hugh McTague  age:14  born:1867  Muiravonside, Stirling  living at #8 Rumford Village, Stirling with his grandparents John & Anne and brothers John (16) & William (10).

Could either of these Hughs be a possibility?? I wonder if Hugh may be a son from his father's previous marriage or could perhaps the grandmother's name be (Rose)Anne? Especially as father John says he was born in Rumford, Stirling and Hugh is there with grandparents.

Do you have any info from Hugh's marriage or death cert that may give more info??  Kim
