Hello My friends, I've been told these are my G Grandparents Herbert Read and Mary Little, BUT I'm thinking the lady is his mother taken much earlier and I can see they are merged.
Herbert 1877 -1948.Mary was his wife 1881- 1957.
Could the lady be his MOTHER ? Emily Howlett 1844-1931. (a much older photo?)
Any help is Appreciated, Cheers, Rod.

Ferret,

Thanks Yonks, I thought that too, but I'm thinking they are husband and wife, he died well before she, and maybe someone had the photo put together, but a date for each person's photo would help clinch whether they are my G Grands, or GG Grands.
Cheers, Rod.

The stance of them both..to me dont look like a couple..he looks like he's thinking "Mother" do I have to have this photo taken ..to me she looks a lot older.
Hope someone else joins in and gives their thoughts
Is there any thing on the back of the Photo, have you looked at census to see..who was living where..maybe if its his Mother..she was living with him.
Cheers

What you have is an over-sketched enlargement of 2 photos blended together.
I would suggest the lady's was taken late WW1 & up to 1920 & the one of him sometime during the 1920's.

So would that make them Mother and Son Jim?
The photo was done by the same studio as the wedding photos of my Grands in 1920, it's the same handwriting on the back of the packing ( just numbers and a squiggle), but nothing on the back of the photo as they are stuck down Grrrrrr so that would make him 43?, as he was born 1877.
Thanks Jim.

Thank you for that regarding the REID/READ family, just dug a bit into my REID chap..his parents were Hepburn RIED and Mary Ann JOHNSTON so dont think there is any connection. Was hoping for a chance with West Aust.

No problem Yonks, there are thousands of Reads here in the west, Gillingham in Dorset is still like a rabbit warren as far as the Reads go !
