I am trying to obtain the maiden name of my wife's grandmother & establish if she was born in the UK (Coventry?) She married a mr grevenstein & lived in Barkley East(cape province south africa) her children's names were harriet, maggie, josie, levenia albertina & a son.Levenia married c w smit & harriet married robert thomas james thank you, regards bmur.

Can you give me Mr Grevensteins first name and hers? You have listed her children. And is that the correct spelling.

Hi I believe the grandmother's name was eliza unfortunately don't know her husband's name ( surname could be spelt grevensteyn). Daughter levenia Albertina date of birth could be 12-3-1908 death 12-5-2000. Sorry being so vague & even the spelling is suspect. Thank you for the prompt reply

Here are Gert Petrus Johannes Greyvenstein's estate papers showing that Eliza Lavinia (Lavenia) surname was Dicks.
On familysearch there is a baptism of Maggie Aletta which shows she was born on 9 December 1914.

I found the following baptism record of Eliza at the Methodist Church Barkley East. It gives her parent's names.

I think that it was probably a farm in the area. Is this your wife's grandmother? If you are looking for details on the other members of the family I will carry on looking.
