Hi, in a family grave in Scotland are the following people........Jane Hoey or Bell died 14/6/1906
 Janet B Young (nee Bell)died 7/7/1909
 Jane Sloan(nee McLeod) died 9/12/1912
William Lochrie died 26/10/1916 age 43
John Young died 8/11/1929 age 75
In 1891 John Young age 36 is staying at 9 Twechar rows with his wife Janet B Young age 31 both b Antrim, they are still there in 1901.
A tree on a commercial site has Johns parents as William Young and Jane Hoey,Howie etc
William Lochrie (b Linlithgow) married a Martha ?Bell they are in Twechar in 1901.
Jane McLeod is also in Twechar in 1911 with her son in law and daughter.(Isaac and Martha Kennedy)she also registered the birth of John Youngs son John in 1876 in Antrim. She is my gg grandmother but I havent a clue how she is or if related to any of these people.
The owner of the grave was a James Bell brother of Janet B Young.
 Any help greatfully appreciated.
Jane McLeod (Sloan) stayed in /near Kilnock and there are 2 possible  births for children of William and Jane Hoey in Connor.I do not need any information for Jane McLeod just help in trying to find a connection with these people. Thanks Jasiain

Possibly very easy to sort out with Scottish records. Daughter Jane born 1891 Kirkintillock (parents John Young & Janet Bell)- her birth certificate should list date and place of parents' marriage, their marriage certificate will give you more details, etc.

You can use Family Search, Scotland's People and GRONI to fill in gaps.

Hi I already had their son Samuels birth cert which gives their marriage as November 1875 Antrim
on NIDirect tonight I found it was 15th December 1874 at Ballymena Registry Office,John Young (father John)of townland of Craigs/Crags.
Jane Bell (father William) of Castlegore, Connor. One of the witnesses was a Janet Law Bell.

My Grandfather, William Lochrie, married Martha Bell who came from Ballymena. They had 3 sons, William, Archie and John and 2 daughters, Martha and Janet.

Finally i was going to check all against the irish census 1901 in case a link or two of more irish links show up.

 Good luck

Thank you BallyaltikilliganG I think that one of the Matthew Hoeys mentioned is Jane Bell nee Hoeys father.

-
Over the past few months I have managed to work out who these people are, still no firm conformation as to how they relate to any of my family other than the John Young mentioned whose mother was Jane Sloan.(Taken from death cert on SP.)Possible sister in law to Jane Sloan nee McLeod.
To confuse things further,in the same graveyard there is a lair owned by a Maggie Bell in which are my great grandparents and 2 great aunts.Isaac Kennedy and his wife Martha Sloan.Their 2 children Annie and Jeanie.Information taken from the records at the graveyard state that Jeanie interred 1921 was a cousin to Maggie Bell, but when her father dies the relation to Maggie is given as sister in law.I feel I have spent the past 6 months going round in circles.I dont want any information on the Kennedys, I just want to know who Maggie Bell is?  ;D  ;D
Would someone whisk a Maggie Sloan from somewhere ;)If Martha had a sister Margaret she must have been born before 1864 as I have her brothers and sisters after that date. All born Toome/Ahoghill,Antrim.I can find no marriage in Ireland or Scotland.(Marthas father Alexander Sloan)

You need to check who gave what info. as the info. on ANY death cert. is only as good as the informant's knowledge & very often not correct.

People don't realise what info. is needed when registering a death until they get there & are confronted with the questions i.e. some of it will be guess work if they are unsure.

Hi to both of you, your input much appreciated.
Maggie Bell owned the plot that Isaac is in and the graveyard would have needed her permission to inter him in that lair,so the assumption was that she was the informant ie sister in law.(not his death cert but on internment record)
If any one could enlighten me as to the possibilities of a young single lady purchasing a lair circa 1920s or is the probability higher for married/older ladies? Thanks.J
-
Is Maggie Bell herself buried in that plot? if so, you should be able to find her death certificate, etc. and see if there is a family connection.

-
No Maggie Bell is not in the plot, interred are my great grandparents,2 great aunts and one of their husbands. That is what makes it frustrating that 4 of my direct relations are in there and nobody has a clue as to her relation to the family ???
