I was wondering if anyone here has access to Leire baptisms ?
I am trying to locate a Thomas Nixon / Nixson / Nickson who should have been born c.1764-1765.
In later life he lived in Bulkington, Warwickshire and on his marriage licence in 1783 he is aged about 18 and his father is stated as a John Nixon of Bulkington. I know Thomas had a sister Sarah born c.1771.
There seems to be a couple called John and Sarah Nixon in Bulkington but they must have been living somewhere other than Bulkington prior to about 1770. This couple had a daughter Sarah baptised in 1771 in Bulkington so that agrees with what I know for a connection with Thomas. There are no Nixon's in the village prior to this date and all Nixon's in Bulkington seem to descend from this couple.
I have located some info online at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~richardkendellfamily/pafg48.htm#2731 which shows this same John and Sarah Nixon originating from Leire but it does not show a son Thomas baptised to this couple.
Would anyone be able to check baptisms for Leire or anywhere nearby for Thomas son of John and Sarah Nixon c.1764-1765 ?
Many thanks for any help.

Hi
I have transcripts for Leire but there is nothing for Thomas. The one for Elizabeth 9 Sep 1764 just says father John, mother's name not mentioned.
Not sure if you have it, but the records office has the following:
Name: Nickson, John
Year:1753
Case Type: Settlement Certificate
1st parish: Leire
2nd Parish: Bulkington Warwickshire
ROLLR No: 1425/87t
Added: The only baptism I can see in Leire for parents John & Sarah Nixon (?) is John, 26 May 1754, transcribed as Rixsop.

Thanks so much Jomot, that is a great help.
I didn't have the settlement information, thank you I will have to order a copy of it. Can I ask where I can find that settlement certificate mention, is it listed online somewhere or in a book as I cannot see it listed on the Record Office online archive catalogue.

Hope it turns out to contain something useful.
I have a CD with the Leicester & Rutland Poor Law indexes on it & found it on there.

Thanks again :)
I guess the most likely place for Thomas Nixon to be baptised is Catthorpe as the mother Sarah Hutchins is said to be from there.
