Title: Eliza Lecompte
Post by: JayTee on Sunday 18 October 15 18:42 BST (UK)
Looking for any information on Eliza Lecompte (b. QC 1826) married Sephrenus Stata and together they had Alonzo, Pliney, Allen, Emma, Caroline, Samuel, Agnus, Alice, Bryon & William.  Kids may all have been born in Ontario.

Hi Jay

Couldn't any information on Eliza Lacompte.  There are a number of trees on Ancestry for this family but they don't go any further back for Eliza.

I found some information on Family search - marriage records for her daughter and death record for her son - that's the only place I could find Eliza's name before marriage.
She was either born in Ottawa, Ontario or Quebec and she lists her religion as Lutheran on the 1861 census which is odd for someone whose last name is Lacompte.

Good luck with this one.
Regards
Vivien

Thanks for trying Vivien,
There is a family story there that she may have been the child of a french soldier and a native mother.  Would love to get my hands on more details!  Maybe not meant to be!

Likely noted as Lutheran as her husband was Lutheran; but she was likely Catholic to begin with.  1851 Census has same info.  1871 census says husband is German (thus higher probability of being Lutheran) and she is French. Possible that Alonzo and Pleney are not her children -- they are aged 13 and 9 in the 1851 census and the next child, Caroline, is 3.....also they are named after the daughter, Caroline, who is 3.

Daughter, Alice, born about 1855, was actually baptized by a Wesleyan Methodist Minister:
