Title: william robinson - trying to find his family
Post by: Enrybm on Sunday 18 October 15 12:18 BST (UK)
William marries Sarah White in Great Eversden in 1820.  No idea of who is he, when born or even  from where.
Can anyone offer any ideas??

William is my 3rd great granddad.

Thanks
Martin

Hi
Cannot find him on 1841. Traced him as father of William (2nd gg) and Edith.
William senior and Sarah i lose after marriage and William a complete blank beforehand.

Where and when was his son William born.

Presumably Sarah is daughter of William & Editha

Yes you are right abt Sarahs parents.
Son William 1822-1851 married Harriet Pett
Daughter Edith 1826 married Robert Sheldrick

William Robinson / Robenson before marriage a mystery

No wonder I couldn't find Edith I see she was living with Robert in 1851 prior to their 1854 marriage  :)

Who were the witnesses to the childrens marriages.  Do either of them state that their father is deceased.

They will not necessarily show that the father is deceased, it will depend as to whether they ever supplied the information. It is not required.

They will give an occupation though and that may be very helpful.

 All who've helped.
Can I bounce another puzzle. Sarahs mother Editha White nee mulberry remarries William Hart in 1827. In 1841 she's with William and a Edithy Hart born 1827. I had assumed their daughter but Edithy disappears after 1841. Is Edith Hart really Edith Robinson whose living with grandmother as both parents William Robinson and Sarah Robinson nee White have as I suspect died. They disappears of all records

Thoughts?

Looking at the 1841 entry it may be that the enumerator just thought that Edithy age 14 was a daughter of the Harts and dittoed the surname though it would not have been unusual for a grandchild to be showing with her grandparents surname.  :-\

I note that Mulberry(?)  White is listed as White but he is technically in a different household in the property as it is divided by the /  in the left hand column

It would certainly solve where she was in 1841  but sadly does not confirm that her parents are dead  :(
