Title: Baptism
Post by: Candace on Saturday 17 October 15 21:06 BST (UK)
I am looking for the baptism of Thomas ROSE. He would have been born about 1776 in Norwich. The family were cork cutters.
Thank you
Chris

If his children are an indicator then you need to check Independent Churches:
Thomas who married Elizabeth their daughter Selina was baptized 1829 at the Wesleyan Methodist Tabernacle
Son George who married Sarah baptized their son Thomas William 1835 at the Independent Church on Princes Street Norwich.

Familysearch also have digitised copies of the Parish Registers for Norfolk too.  Its not complete but there are copies of a number of Norwich parishes.

Hi Amondg
I have all of the family from Thomas it is just his baptism that eludes me. I have tried the non conformist registers and the Anglian.  He was living in the St Stephens area of Norwich but no baptism there either.
Thank you for replying
He will turn up one day hopefully.
Chris

Hi Ruskie
Thank you for replying
I have been searching for the baptism for nearly twenty years and have looked at everything online.
Went to London searched the Mormon films on Norwich the SOG the Norwich family history page on Facebook. The only place I haven't tried is the Norfolk Record office which I have hopes of going next year
Many thanks again
Chris

Do you have any other Children for Thomas/Selina?

Hi Trish
Thank you for the trouble you have taken
They are all my family.
Selina Rose bapt 1829 is my gr gr grandmother. She lived in Bristol married in Cornwall came to London left her husband, lived with my gr gr grandfather had 9 children with him then moved to Sussex when he died. Who said our ancestors didn't move much. I have never found the baptism or marriage of her father although he is mentioned in a will which ties him into the family lucky for me.
The baptism of George is right he took over his fathers business when he died then left it to his son.
The business went out of the family about 1900 they were cork manufactures
Well thank you again for your trouble much appreciated
Chris

Hi Trish
Selina Belcher married Thomas Rose and was grandmother to my Selina. They married in Bristol 1800 St Mary Redcliffe. It is Benjamin Belchers will which names Selinas father Thomas and ties him into the family. Thomas Jr. was born in London but I have never found his baptism or indeed his marriage.  Aggravating family.
Thanks for the info, again much appreciated
Chris

Hi Trish
You were on the right track. This family have caused problems from the start Selina's son my gr grandfather decided to change his name from his fathers Loadsman to his mothers Rose he was baptised as an adult under Rose his brother was also baptised about the same time under Loadsman.
Both gave different info on their parents. It was only when my gr grandfather died and his brother signed the death cert that I found out about the name change lucky for me.
Well one day I will find this elusive baptism I'm sure
Enjoy the rest of the weekend
Thanks again
Chris
