Title: marriage records abbreviations
Post by: neno on Monday 12 October 15 19:26 BST (UK)
Marriage records 1737, Dolgelley, Merionethshire show some marriages "by banns"  and others  "LTIS ", I think.
Does it mean " by licence" and if so where should I go to hunt for it.
Thank you

Hi,

You need to know which Diocese Merionethshire was in, then who holds these records.  Many
marriage licences have not survived.

This will explain:-

Diocese of St Asaph, I think.
Am going to the National Library in Aberystwyth  soon, will see what I can find there.
Thanks
