Title: Changing father's name
Post by: annesthreads on Sunday 11 October 15 18:21 BST (UK)
In Family Tree Maker 2014 I have Mary Hilton with two sons, Thomas and James, shown as having the same father, William Cliffe. I've now discovered that Thomas's father was a Richard Worthington. I've entered him as a second "spouse" for Mary, but how do I move Thomas from William to Richard? Thankyou.

1. Select Thomas
2. In the "File  Edit  View ......" menu click on Person
3. Select Attach/Detach Person > Detach Selected Person
4. Select William Cliffe, click OK
5. Thomas now has a mother (Mary) but no father
6. With Thomas still selected, Person > Attach/Detach Person > Attach Father
7. Select Richard Worthington and click OK
8. Select the appropriate family (the Existing family) and click OK
9. Change Thomas's surname if desired
