Title: Please help me find my great grandmother ann ellen mcallister
Post by: Nikkiannjames on Saturday 10 October 15 17:31 BST (UK)
I have been searching for ever. I can find a little information on her but every time I look I come to nothing. I wondered whether anyone could perhaps help me. I'm already on ancestry.com.

Her maiden name was ann ellen mcallister. She married charles william theodore brack in 1928 and died in 1936.

Any help would be really appreciated

Many thanks

Nikki

Do you have her marriage certificate?

If so please could you let us know who was named as her father and where she was living at the time of the marriage and the witness to her marriage please

Hi Nikki,

Would this be Ann's death? -

Ann E Brack
Birth Date - abt 1913
Date of Registration - Jun 1936
Age at Death - 23
Camberwell, London
Vol 1d Page 743

If so it gives us a birth year to work with  :)

Pushing it age-wise - she must have been a very young bride.

We really do need the details from her marriage cert.

I can see William and Annie, as she is listed, in the electoral register in Lambeth Square in 1930 - 32 and then Hackney Road in 1933 & 1935. She'd have to be at least 21 to be on the register in 1930, which would make her born c1909 or earlier. Her husband is in full Charles William Theodore and b c1909  (his mother Amelia lives with them).

Still doesn't help with a birth - unless she was born in Ireland

Hello all.

She was 100% born in 1910 in lambeth. Married in 1928 and died in 1936. My nan is still alive so remembers her mum well although she died an awful death so young. I can't find any further information following what I already know I haven't a clue who her parents were all I know is she had a brother called Ruben no sure on spelling. Thank you all so much xx

I wonder if Ann Ellen is listed on FreeBMD as  Hannah E? Mcallister born  Sept Qtr 1910  Greenwich    1d   956 ??? The middle initial is based on the image

You mentioned a brother Ruben, there was a Reuben Mcallister born 2nd qtr 1912, transcription for his name is  Rewirueben McAllister ::) Mother's maiden name Lowther.

He is on a number of electoral rolls in Lambeth during the forties, wife is Winifred.

There is a Henry McAllister/Mary Ann Lowther marriage in June qtr 1910 Greenwich.

If you look at the original scan the handwritten supplementary entry is at the bottom of the page.  They attempted to spell 'Reuben', got it wrong, tried to cross it out (but not very well) and then wrote 'Rueben' (so still getting it wrong).  I think you would find that this supplementary entry was to correct the original registration where his name was entered as 'Ruby'.
