Title: Help with Transcription of Marriage Certificate

Hi all.
I received this marriage certificate image from Victoria, Australia. However, I am having difficulty reading it enough to transcribe it.

Here is what I can read, and if anyone can help me fill in the blanks or correct where I'm wrong, I'd really appreciate it. Anything I am unsure of, I have made bold.

Marriages solemnised in the District of Sandhurst, Victoria (now known as Bendigo)

I, ____________ being registered ________ do hereby certify, that I have this day, at St Johns _______ Street Sandhurst duly celebrated the marriage between John Halliday of Echuca, Labourer and Annie Bowden of Sandhurst, Dressmaker, after notice and declaration duly made and published, as by law required. Dated, the Thirtieth day of December 1879.

Marriage by licence was solemnised between us, John Halliday and Annie Bowden (her mark) according to the ____ of the St Johns ____ Presbyterian Church at Sandhurst.

there is also an odd number or mark next to where it says "her mark" that i'd love to be able to know what it means.

Hi there,

Not much help, but

left hand side after St Johns I read Manse .... but cannot read the street name.
right hand side after St Johns I read "Free"
and the marks near the bride's 'signature' are likely to be the initials of the Rev'd confirming he witnessed the X mark.

no such thing as not much help! thanks JM. I just did a google search, and manse is a house provided for a minister of certain Christian Churches, especially the Scottish Presbyterian Church.. so that makes sense.

I was working on this when the other posts came in.  Will post as I had it.

St Johns Manse View Street Sandhurst.
His usual residence is Melbourne.
His father's profession may be Joiner (but at this resolution it's hard to be sure).
It's the rites of the St Johns Free Presbyterian Church.

Now that I had view street, I went to the St Johns website (there was two before), and I found that there was a minister named Rev. T. E. Ick, 1877-1884  (St. John’s Free Church).... that fits!!! :)

I think his hame was something Edwin Ick...

The clergyman's forenames in the certificate are Thomas Edwin.

February makes sense - although her previous husband died Feb 1868, not 1870...

I read it as Anne Ick and James Reece (maybe).
Agree it is initials of minister near X. Look over at minister Thomas Edwin Ick's name and look at the capital letters to compare!

I think the date of death for previous husband is written as Febry for February.

The signature of the witness may indeed be James  ? PASCOE.

A quick glance at the newspapers of the decade 1870 to 1880 shows a man  of that name in the Bendigo area.

The middle initial of Anne ICK is L

It stands for Louisa.
