Title: Chester Marriage Bonds
Post by: delta59 on Monday 28 September 15 14:03 BST (UK)
Hi All

I have found my ancestor's marriage bond in Chester Marriage Bonds although they both lived in Lancashire and actually says so on the bond.  This may sound a very stupid question but does this mean they married in Cheshire for some unknown reason.  As far as I am aware they have no connection with Cheshire.

The Diocese of Chester covers some parts of Lancashire, the Manchester area I believe. Is this where your family were.

You can see a map of the original Chester Diocese at http://www.chester.anglican.org/page_schools.asp?Page=77

Many thanks.  Rosie - Yes it was Lancashire, now Greater Manchester.  Looks like that has solved the mystery.

Thanks again Stan
