Trying to find out who James Riglin (b 1787 Kelvedon Hatch) married in Romford 1822. Ancestry, FamilySearch and FreeBMD all give a list of possibles, but there are 2 Mary's on there and no Mary Ann. The 1851 lists him and M A Riglin, and 1861 him and Mary A, which is where I have got the presumption that his wife is Mary Ann, but I don't have any proof that his is the same marriage that happened in 1822.
Other than ordering the certificate, any ideas how to track down the name of his spouse?

What makes you think they married in Romford?
The youngest child was born in Havering but he, his wife and 1st 2 kids came from Chelmsford area.
No trace of marriage in Romford PR's

Man, I screwed that up. I have no idea where I plucked that date and place from, especially as I'm pretty sure there are children from before that date anyway. Still, I still have a mystery on my hands in whom Mary Ann is and whether she is his first wife (and therefore mother to all the children).

Other than ordering the certificate
Marriage certs didn't exist prior to 1.7.1837. There are only the parish register entries
-
There is an Ancestry tree that has the marriage both in 1822 and 1838; that might be were you got the idea
-
Well, if anyone can find any James Riglin marriages, please let me know :)

The 1841 shows eldest child as Joseph aged 18 so a marriage pre-1822. An Iain McBride has notified an amendment to the 1841 entry and appears to have a connection to the family

Wow, how confusing with the names. In the same generation it went from Rigling, to Rigglesby, to Riglin/Riglen. Thanks, these have been great pointers!
