Title: JENNINGS and GIBBINS of Elmore
Post by: bungleberry on Saturday 26 September 15 20:32 BST (UK)
My g-g-g-g-grandfather John JENNINGS m Mary GIBBINS at Elmore on 31/03/1776. Now, I have loads of GIBBINSs in my tree, mainly in the Miserden area, but this particular Mary is new to me. Interestingly she signed the parish register as GIBBINS but the incumbent knew better, and listed her as GIBBINGS! I'd be intrigued to find more about this couple.

Nothing else is known to me other than my directs: son William (bap 1777) and Mary (née FRYER, bap 1773) who m at Hardwicke in 1800 - a very interesting pair indeed - and their descendants.

Thank you for clarifying that, Victor.

I had been confuzzled by another John burial, at Minchinhampton in 1830, because John and Mary's son William was a victualler at Minchinhampton. However an admon was granted in 1831 to another Mary who, it is now clear, was William's wife (John junior's mother).
