I know who these women are - they are my great grandmother Kathleen Cavenagh-Mainwaring, born 1874 in the middle at the back, and her sisters (born 1867-1882). The photo was probably taken in England. My grandmother has written on the back the date 1908. I don't think my great grandmother was in England that year and the sisters could not have been gathered together. My grandmother was born in Australia in June 1908.
There is no information about the photographer on the photo - it was trimmed to fit in a silver frame.
I was wondering if anyone could help with dating reasonably specifically looking at say the hairstyles or dresses.
Many thanks

Hi Ann and welcome to Rootschat...What a beautiful photo :o ...I think the photo fits a date of 1908 but could vary a year or two either way...your Great Grandmother must have had a rough idea to write the date on the back...maybe your Grandma is expecting in the photo and her baby bump is being hidden by her Sisters ;D

They are all in evening wear so a special occasion for the family.
The hairstyles are definitely Edwardian & could be any part of that decade.
