The 1911 census shows Violet Feltwell Gregory born 1893 in Uxbridge. Parents are recorded as George Gregory b.1854 Chipperfield Herts and Susan Hannah Gregory b.1852 Biggleswade Beds.
I cannot find a marriage for George and Susan. Violet's middle name (Feltwell) might suggest it was her mother's maiden name, or, possibly her mother's name from an earlier marriage?
Grateful for help in finding the marriage of George and Susan, also the family in the 1901 census.

2. Naming the father of George as John Gregory has added a new generation. George Gregory b.1854, father John Gregory - grateful for census records covering 1861 - 1891

From FamilySearch, this might get you further back
Baptism: John Gregory

Parents John and Eleanor Gregory
That fits with John naming one of his daughters Eleanor in 1861 ( the one transcribed as Cealnor! )

Hi Nanny Jan and Gerry,
Just to confirm -- I did find the marriage amongst the London Parish Records -- Marriages --on the Ancestry site.
-
Thanks for pointing me to Ancestry but I don't have a subscription. I will try the local library who offer free access.

Violet had a sister, Emily Daisy and the 1891 census says she was born c.1886 in Uxbridge Middlessex. I would like to find more about Emily but can't find her in the 1901 and 1911 census.
Family notes suggest she was in service. Some of the Gregory census has included incorrect spellings and I wonder if this why Emily has not been found.
Can anyone help me please?

Re Emily - 1911 lookups aren't allowed on here, but I suggest you have a look for this one:

Many thanks for such a fast response, sorry, I forgot 1911 was Crown Copywright. I don't have access to Family Search and the library edition will not let me connect to the reference given. Hopefully a record for 1901 will be found which will go some way to my posting

Gerry -- Family Search is a free website. You don't even need to register to use it.
https://familysearch.org/
It contains millions of worldwide parish register (transcriptions usually) -- census records and much more.
When accessing the site -- go to 'Search' along the top menu.
Then select your country of choice.
Then your selected records baptisms, marriages - census or whatever
Input your search criteria.
Click 'search' - and check the results
-
I know it will not connect to the reference, but the reference gives you enough info to find Emily for yourself. Search for Emily Gregory b 1886 ("exact") in the registration district of Edmonton.
-
I've seen the reference which shows Emily in the registration district of Edmonton. Perhaps she was in service but who for and at what address is unknown. Many thanks for your help
