Hi I am looking for information on the children of James Poole and Annabella Arkless.
A bit of background information. James (b 8 June 1847) originally came from Shropshire, specifically the Malinslee area and a little (mining) village called Dark Lane. James I can only assume moved to the Durham/Gateshead area to look for something a little better than mining.
Anyway, James and Annabella had the following children (that I know of ):
Florence Poole b 1874
William C Poole b 1877
Beatrice Poole b 1878
Eugenie Poole b 1880
Carie Poole b 1882
Lydia Poole b 1889
I have seen the census records up to a point, but I haven't been able to find out who the girls married, if they did of course.
So, any information anyone has on these children would be gratefully received.

In 1891 census Lydia has middle initial F.
Here birth reg (free to view on Freebmd) gives her name as Lydia Furbell Poole
There is a marriage Jul/aug/sep 1922 Gateshead ofLydia F Poole to Frederick V Tulip
There is a probate index entry for Lydia Furbell Tulip dying 16 May 1944

Hi lizdb
Thanks for that will probably get hold of the marriage certificate and have a look. I did realise she was always down as Lydia F but must admit did not realise what the F stood for. Not a name I have come across before in any branch of the Poole's I have looked at.
Thanks again.

Dont know if you have 1901
27 Bensham ? Gateshead
James Poole 53 widower labourer steel works bn Salop
William C 24 widowe
Eugenie 21 unm
Carrie 19 unm
Lydia F 12
Eleanor 3 granddtr bn Gateshead
Charlotte Galloway 11 step dtr
Not sure where Charlotte fits in.
I wonder if Eleanor is Williams child from what must have been a very short marriage. Or an illegit child of one of the girls
Williams middle name seems to be Currier.
His marriages are on Freebmd. First to an Elizabeth. Then censuses suggest a remarriage to a Catherine

Hi
Yes, they lived in Bensham Crescent, Gateshead (still there??). I can't remember if William C re-married, Charlotte would then have been his stepdaughter. William's wife did die young, not sure of the circumstances at the moment, that is one area I want to have a look at.

William C is still a widower on the 1901 though.
His second marriage appears to be to a Catherine Thompson later in 1901.

Charlotte's birth is registered as Elizabeth Charlotte Galloway, 3q 1899, Gateshead 10a, 894.
There is an Elizabeth Galloway aged 1 in the 1891 census, with parents Robert and Mary and brother Ernest aged 4 in Gateshead.
RG12 / 4176 / 21 / 35

Possibly both Robert and Mary Galloway died before 1901 :-\ Durham Records Online shows the burial of a Robert Galloway aged 33 in 1894 and a Mary Galloway aged 35 in 1898. They both lived at the same address, Askew Road in Gateshead.
Ernest is living with aunt, Elizabeth Hoggart in Gateshead in 1901.
