Hello
I'm looking for where 26, Victoria Dwellings might have been? My great grand parents were residing
at this address when my granddad was born in 1903.
I note in the doctors ledger from 1896-1899 there was a Watson, my family name, registered
with this doctor.
Any suggestions would be welcome-thank you.

Hi,
Welcome to Rootschat. :)
Do you have any more details.....country, city/town/village? There could be more than one "Victoria Dwellings".

The 1901 has the family at 17 North Street St Leonards. A street of that name is still there which by the look of it on Google Earth has many houses of that era. Have you "walked" that street?
-
Only on Google maps! (if that's what you mean 'walked'
that street?
If this was their home I can only assume they moved to Victoria Dwellings between the 1901 census and 1903 as stated on my grandfathers certificate.
If you have any other suggestions regarding Victoria Dwellings I would be grateful-thank you.

I see you also have the question on this forum

It might help people who know the area.

According to the 1911 Census Victoria Dwellings were adjacent to Victoria Mews, which could be those marked as Royal Victoria Mews on the 1875 Town Plan at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/580009/108911/13/100592

The area is shown on the old map and present day at http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/sidebyside.cfm#zoom=18&lat=50.8518&lon=0.5562&layers=171&right=BingHyb
The census has Harold Mews, Victoria Mews and then Victoria Dwellings, in that order.

Hello Stan
Looks like mystery solved. I'll have to drive down to Hastings and have a look around.
