Title: help with occupation
Post by: leasha on Thursday 10 September 15 00:38 BST (UK)
I have a marriage entry - 1820 and I am having trouble with the occupation of James Neil.  I can read "Bookbinder" but not the word after.  Any help would be appreciated.

It says Anderston - probably referring to the district in Glasgow and indicating his residence there.

Thank you, I was thinking Ander... ?? but couldn't place that with his occupation and not being familiar with the area  didn't realise it was a location.  I am guessing it is very close to Barony.   Would this be indicating a possible place of birth or just location at time of marriage.  I am still on the search for his baptism and parent's details.
