Hi,
I have my fathers birth certificate and his fathers profession is witten as
General Laborer of 5 Queens Collage Estate, Monk Sherborne, Basingstoke, my grandma as the same address.
I cant seem to clarify anything about the place.

Can someone please help with information, Im up north near Newcastle so cant nip into the local records office sadly.

iv read the 1st link, i think I had came across that before, but it confused me with it coming up Oxford also. I'v sent an email to the hampshire library, so fingers crossed they will get back to me.

That map is fantastic.. been trying to get my head around where the property was on it though

Queens Cottages are in Salters Heath Road not far from The Mole Inn formerly the New Inn. Some of my relatives lived near them many years ago

Do you know if the Queens Cottages were also known as Queens Collage Estate, thats what is listed as my grandads address on my dads birth certificate.

My grandad, Robert(bob) Oliver trainer, was a general labourer apparently at a place where Lady Ryecroft was.

My grandma, Ellen Grace Hide (from Basingstoke) was also working at the same place, i think this is how they have met.
