My great great grandmother Sarah Ann Jones nee Rees born c.1874 is connected to Llanelly. I believe her family are from there, as she moves there (1900/01) with her 3 children (John Evan "Jack", Mary Dorothy "Dorothy" and Nathaniel [who dies in Llanelly aged 14]) after her husband, Nathaniel Jones, dies out in Africa during the Boer War.
I believe Sarah's parents to be John and Mary Rees. When Sarah moves back to Llanelly it is to move in with her widowed mother.
Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.
I already have the 1901 census and 1911 census records, Sarah's marriage record and Dorothy's & Nathaniel's birth details.
John Evan is elusive, all I know about him so far his that he was born in Llanelly in 1897. He was known largely as Jack.
I am working backwards so am looking for info pre 1896 info about Sarah; and any info at all on her parents.

Mary would have been in her early 40s, not unheard of to have a child at that age even a first one. It does appear from everything I have looked at so far that Sarah was an only child.
Or maybe Mary was married before? something to look into maybe?
At Nathaniel and Sarah's wedding which was in South Stoneham near Southampton. John Rees was deceased and had occupation given as haulier.
The witnesses were Louisa Barnes and Charles Davison.
I have not been able to work out how Sarah ended up in Southampton. As Nathaniel was stationed at Royal Victoria Hospital (a military hospital), I think, though not certain, that perhaps she was connected somehow, maybe a nurse? though her later occupations give no hint of this being the case.

Hi again the John Evan birth 1897 suggests Nathaniel was in Llanelly if correct birth, then they moved to Hampshire or did Sarah travel back for the birth?

Oh well...never mind ::)

Hi Carol,
Sorry, no I don't have any such relative in my tree, or at least none that I've found so far.

Sarah was in Southampton shortly before the birth. Nathaniel was working at the Royal Victoria Hospital as he was military medic. It appears they, or at Sarah was, in Llanelly for the birth and the baptism a little while later. Maybe Nathaniel was on leave? They then were back in Southampton for Dorothy's birth, then on IOW for Nathaniel juniors birth (Nathaniel senior was in Africa by this point and died 13 days after his son was born, the birth was registered until late June).

To update,
I now know Sarah Ann Jones's exact DoB (b. Rees, 1st April 1874, Felinfoel, Llanelly).
However what has stalled continued research is that I cannot narrow down her death record. I have spoken with a few family members who would most likely have either met her as a young child or at least could recall some mention of her; it seems nobody I have spoken with, so far, knows anything about her death or can recall any mention of her. Family tree research which was passed to me a few years ago had her as unknown (this info was largely sourced from Sarah Ann's granddaughter [now deceased] and she did not mention her at all).
This leaves me at a dead end for the moment.
If any one has any ideas as to how I could narrow the search down, they would be most appreciated :)
