If you are a male Mitchell who has taken a Y-Chromosome Y-DNA test with any DNA testing company, you can upload your results to ysearch.org. This is a free website that allows comparison of results from different companies and allows people to contact matches.
If you are a male Mitchell contemplating Y-DNA testing, Please consider joining us at the Mitchell DNA Project where over 400 Mitchells have tested so far. See, https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Mitchell/
You can see family lines that have already tested at: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Mitchell/default.aspx?section=yresults and see the Paternal ancestor name column
Families tested include those in Great Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Canada and US, and more. All Mitchells/Mitchels and other variations are welcome to test.
Y-Chromosome testing is limited to males and will trace the paternal line of the testee. Matches will include persons that share a common male paternal ancestor within 8-12 generations (usually), depending on the match details.
Women can enlist a male Mitchell relative to take the test.
