Hi everyone,
im trying to trace the birth of my great great grandfather Thomas John Brown. According to the 1901 census he was born in badbury about 1847. Living in Roath Cardiff in 1901.
-
Hi,
Am unable to find a parish called Badbury in Wilts - could it have been Avebury?
Alan

Could you please give a reference for the 1901 census entry

That link takes me straight to a sign on screen for Ancestry

It wont let me post a direct link for the census because I haven't got an ancestry subscription.
They were living in llanelly st, Roath , Cardiff

Hi Rosie,
Thanks for the link. It appears that Badbury doesn't have its own parish registers and the inference is that it may form part of Chiseldon. Certainly its not listed by the Wilts FHS.

There is a Badbury in Wiltshire, south of Swindon as it was.
Has Methodist chapel but no parish church
Mike
Edit, That's a poor link, enlarge the map and its bottom left.
-
Swindon would be the registration district, I can see a John Thomas in 1849, but it's little better than a guess really.

Is there anything that would help find his birth apart from a marriage cert as I cant find the marriage anywhere. ???
-
I can't see a marriage either. You really need to be able to track him back in census, he may have been married before.
-
She was married to William kempton but her name has been transcribed as white instead of wyatt
-
What happened to William and when
How many children did they have
-
He died about 1880. The only child i can find from their marriage is Harriett kempton
