Title: Thomas Dingwall

My G/G/Grandfather Thomas Dingwall, born 18 May 1799 at Keppoch and died 12 Dec 1874 at Evanton.  His wife was Ellen Ross, born 18 Aug 1800 at Beddans, died 26 Nov 1861.  They were married 2 Aug 1823 at Alness.
I have a copy of my G/G/Grandfather Death Certificate but cannot find out where he was buried.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem for me.

Hi Jack,

Do you have Ellen's death cert. with details of where she died as she would have been buried prior so depending on where they were living at the time of her death, Thomas may be buried elsewhere (with Ellen) other than where he was resident at his time of death  ???

Helen Dingwall died at Asyant 26 Nov 1861.  The certificate does not show where she is buried.

Further to my last post. Thomas Dingwall died at Ketwill which was his place of residence at the time but the Death Certificate was done at Evanton. There is no indication of 'place of residence' for Helen on the Death Certificate, just states she died at Asyant.

There is a possibility that 'Ketwill' could be the current 'Katewell' which comes under Evanton.

I will attempt to attach a map showing where it is in relation to Evanton today. The building in the top left corner is Kiltearn primary school, within the village of Evanton.

If this is correct, he is likely to have been buried at Kiltearn cemetery or St. Clements churchyard in nearby Dingwall.

Keppoch is also likely to be a farm. Heights of Keppoch is 9 miles west of Evanton near Strathpeffer.

Evanton comes under Ross & Cromarty, but Assynt comes under Sutherland(unless there is another Asyant). Someone else with more knowledge may be able to help with cemeteries there.

I think there's an Assynt at the back of Evanton.

So they are possibly both buried at Kiltearn cemetery as that would be the nearest.

I'll do some more digging at Kiltearn and see what I can find.
