I am trying to find further information about Donald Cameron b.1838 - d. 1908 (Lochaber), who was the head gamekeeper residing at Bunarkaig, Achnacarry.
I am assuming he was the Head Gamekeeper for the Achnacarry Estate. He was married to Helen (Ellen) McDonald.
They had six children:
Alexander b.1865 (Aberlour)
John b.1866 (Aberlour)
Donald b.1869 (Glengarry)
William b.1871 (Glengarry)
Catherine b.1874 (Glengarry)
Mary Ann 1878-1888
John, Donald and William were recorded as under gamekeepers in the 1891 Census.
If anyone has any information on the history of the Gamekeepers of the time around the Achnacarry, Glengarry area, I would be pleased to hear from you.
Additionally, I am looking to find further information on the above listed children.
Many thanks,
MacLost

Are you researching his ancestry? If so - a copy of either his marriage or death cert will give his parents names and mothers maiden name
Have you looked for a marriage for Catherine using Scotlands People?
Have you checked later censuses for the boys to establish whether they married and to whom?

I have the marriage record for Donald Cameron to Helen McDonald, the birth certs for each of their children, and census records from 1871 -1901.
I have two specific interests:
1. The history of Gamekeepers, given he was the Head Gamekeeper in Achncarry for a considerable period of time. If there are any historians with knowledge of the area, then I would like to hear from them. The web is rather vague and non-specific.
2. Whether anyone has any information on any of the children listed, deaths or marriages.
Searching on various sources has not led me to discover anything in the 1911 census record, so I am not sure if they remained in the Lochaber, Glengarry area.

Try the Clan Cameron Museum at Achnacarry, or the Lochaber Archive Centre in Fort William for Estate Records.
