Title: Death Cert vs Death printout
Post by: monemore on Thursday 27 August 15 09:23 BST (UK)
Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before.  When ordering historical records, does the death printout contain the same details as the Certificate?  Is there any death index that shows mother's name?
Thanks.

Hi Monemore,

To clarify, a 'printout' is an image, a direct copy, of a certificate, be it a birth, death or marriage.

The certificate option offered by NZ BDM is a transcription of the original document, so the information the genealogist receives is someone else's interpretation.

Genealogists should request a 'printout' because they then have a copy of the original document with all the information included.

To answer your second question, no, not as far as I'm aware.

Spades,

Thanks for explanation.  Yes, I do indeed want the printout, fingers crossed it will have all the relevant info.  Thx again.

Hi,

Ask for it to be emailed, as it is easier to read than the paper copy, as the print is usually too small to read sometimes.

Also better value for the money as it costs less

Thanks guys, all done, have already purchased the printout and requested it to be emailed.  So I'll just sit back & wait!
