Title: Arthur Napoleon Thackeray
Post by: Brie on Sunday 23 August 15 16:28 BST (UK)
Hello all,

I am looking at the above gentleman for a friend. He appears as a witness on the marriage certificate of William Henry Manners Thackeray. All I can find about him is his death 2 Apr 1903, Leeds, UK (from his probate record) and that he appears on the Queensland passenger lists. Nothing else. So was he born here or Australia? Was he just visiting Australia? What was his connection with W.H.M. Thackeray? Or any other details?

Brie

Yes it is the right family. Father Joseph is a Teacher of Music which fits with 1861 and the other witness to the marriage is Cecilia.

Rosie & Heywood,

Thankyou for this. There can't be too manu Arthur Napoleon's around so it looks likely! It also helps pin down the correct William Thackeray in the earlier censuses. Very helpful.
