I’m looking for the first marriage of Ada Brice, Familysearch has brought up a lead. The Outward Passenger list for the ship Megantic 27th Sept 1913 destination Quebec Canada lists an Ada Brice born about 1890, To be married and a domestic servant. If she is the right Ada she married someone with the surname of BIRD. Which fits quite well with the 1911 UK Census.
The Marriage Certificate for her second marriage in 1923 at St. Neots, Huntingdonshire England to Albert Robins, she is a widow Ada Bird, fathers name Joseph Brice and is a Greengrocer.
My other lead is Ada E. E. Hilson married Leonard Bird in 1912 and died 1918. St. Neots, Huntingdonshire. HILSON is her mothers maiden name. I'm doubtful about the two middle names.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank You

Is this a marriage in the UK? I can't see any Bird/Brice marriages :-\
lists an Ada Brice born about 1890, To be married and a domestic servant.
If she is listed under Brice and married wouldn't that be her married name?

According to the passenger list she was single and going to Medicine Hat , Alberta. I can't find a marriage in Canada and I don't think there are any online indexes for Alberta. If she did marry a Mr Bird out there and came back to marry in 1923 there should be a return journey - I can't see that either.
Regarding the Hilson marriage there is an Ada Elizabeth E Hilson registered Jan 1892 St Neots - I'm not sure where that marriage would fit in if you already have birth details for Ada Brice ?

I can see Joseph Brice greengrocer but Ada is still single so did she marry a Bird after she travelled.
-
I don't think Ada E.E. Hilson is the one I'm looking for but with so few leads.
Ada Brice married Mr. Bird in Canada.
Just found UK Incoming list for the Megantic Nov 1920 Montreal to Liverpool.
Frank Bird Miner age 31
Ada Bird Housewife age 31
Elsie Bird Child
Nora Bird Infant
This may be her and family returning to England. If so her husband died between 1921-1923.
Will starting looking this up.
Thank you for your reply's

Frank H Bird (born 1889), Ada and Elsie Bird travelled to Canada travelling on the Carmania Liverpool to Halifax Nova Scotia arriving 24 August 1919. Going to Boissevain Manitoba. Frank had been in Canada in 1913. Elsie was born in England 1915.
Another passenger list - 2 April 1911 on the Southwark suggests Frank H Bird had been in Boissevain Manitoba Canada 1909/1910 for 6/12 months.
Can't see a UK birth for Elsie Bird 1915 with a mother maiden surname Brice.
Manitoba births are only available 100 years ago, so neither Elsie or Nora show on that. Couldn't see a marriage for Bird and Brice either. ???

Might not Ada Brice and Ada Hilson be the same person?
You said that Ada Brice's mother was a Hilson
Marriage, Sep 1892 Bedford 3b 628
Brice, Joseph
Hilson, Annie
According to the 1901 census, daughter Ada was born circa 1892, but there seems to be no birth registration
So the birth already mentioned in March qtr 1892 St Neots of Ada Eliza E Hilson might suggest that Ada was born before Annie Hilson married Joseph
There was an Ada Hillson born later in 1892 in St Neots district (coincidentally her father was called Joseph?) but that is Ada Alice Hilson who seems to have married in St Neots in 1914
So your Ada could have married using the name she was born with, Hilson, whilst naming her father (or he could have been a stepfather) as Joseph Brice. And there needn't have been any marriage for her as Ada Brice to a Mr Bird!
You could perhaps get the marriage of Ada Hilson to Leonard Bird in 1912, and see what she says on that one.
Is this her death?
March 1971 Bedford 4a 207
Robins, Ada Elizabeth

John that is genius I think you've cracked it :D

Thank you for your replies. I'll get the marriage certificate ordered.

Well done Johnw65. The marriage certificate for Ada Eliza Elizabeth Hilson to Leonard Bird, Ada's fathers name and occupation is blank. Joseph Brice was one of the witnesses. As you mentioned Ada was born in March 1892 and Joseph and Annie Hilson were married in September 1892.
So I will probably never know who the father was as it looks like it was not Joseph.
Thank you again for all the replies.
