Post by: IzzyB on Friday 14 August 15 04:02 BST (UK)
Can anyone tell me how to access my deceased Fathers Army service record. He served during the 2nd World War and was in the Honourable Artillery Company.

There is nothing on line you have to apply to MOD and pay £30 through the link in the previous post

When I applied a few years ago, I also had to send my parents marriage certs and death certs to prove I was next of kin, and the wait for my father's records was about 6 months.  I know the wait went up to a year, but maybe it's come down again now.

I think I had to do the same but mine came within 3 months so I was pleased. I think it varies as to how long it takes and of course is likely to be quicker if you have the Regiment and service number.

If your mother is still living she can apply and it will be free

I think the wait is shorter now. I waited a year for mine.  ::) But the long wait was expected. :)
