Hi All
Need some help looking for Jacob Romain/Roman/Romaine abt1799. He would be my GGG Grandfather.
He is listed as my GG Grandmother's father on her wedding cert.
My GG Grandmother was Phoebe Romaine circa 1829 and she married Woolf Harris in 1848. I have the necessary photo's and documentation to prove this, but struggling to go back any further? I don't seem to have any records of a Jacob with a daughter called Phoebe either?
My research is leading me to believe that Jacob would've been born around 1799 and came from Urchfront or Devizes, Wiltshire.
So, I'm wondering if anyone can through some colour on this for me . . . . Please!

On the marriage cert what was listed as Jacob's occupation please ?

Christening Date 11 Aug 1799

Father William Roman
Mother Sarah

According to census Phoebe was born Aldgate, London. What evidence is taking you to Wiltshire.

There is no occupation given for either father?

The only evidence I can find for a birth of Jacob circa 1800 is steering me to Wilts?

The Jacob who was born in Urchfont married Hannah Gillett in 1822 Urchfont, he died 1866. They are in Urchfont in 1851 & 1861. Have you found them in 1841

Yes, I've seen that census and the death record. I would like to believe it is what I'm looking for, but still remain unsure.
No, not found them on the 1841 census. Although I do know where Phoebe was in 1841 . . . .not with a Jacob!
Woolf and Phoebe's two daughters where named Hannah and Sarah. This could well fit in with what I want to believe. i.e they where named after Phoebe's Mother and Grandmother???? (that's if William and Sarah are the father of Jacob?) It's just that I would like to be able to see some sort of record for all of this, before I go adding them to my tree and ending up with . . . . well you know I'm sure?
I would attach the marriage cert for all to see but can't seem to work out how to do that . . . there is no icon for attaching it?
