Title: Catherine McStea of Heworth
Post by: dido on Wednesday 05 August 15 11:45 BST (UK)
I have discovered this strong family link in my research and wondered if any rooters know of or also researching this family?

Catherine b 1847 Heworth married William McStea. They had 5 girls and 4 boys. I have all their births. Catherine I think, died in 1929 aged 82. Would greatly appreciate any info. Many thanks.       Dido.

I presume you have the Marriage 1863 Northumberland William McSTAY/Catherine ONEILL?

1861 in Heworth we have;
Jane McStay, 44, Head, Widr
William McStay, 18, Son, Unm, Chemical Labourer*****
Agnes McStay, 12
Daniel McStay, 9
James McStay, 6
John Mc Gragh, 18, Lodger
All born Ireland

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Your info certainly ties with mine.
Some of Catherine Oneil and Williams children's names come from the Mcstay side and the Oneil side. In fact, all the names tie to both sides of the families which just about verifies that Catherine's dad came over from Ireland with more family, likely brothers.

Hi dido

William and Catherine were my gt gt gt grandparents :).  Can you tell me more about how you are related to them?  My family still live in the area and a lot of the information I have on the family came from my grandmother and her cousins.

Hi Helen.
Good to hear from you, thanks.
Catherine was the daughter of my husbands great granddad, sister to his granddad.
I will send you a p.m. shortly with more info if that's o.k.
