I am at the moment feeling a little angry - not confused -
I am researching the following:
Mary Patrick ( oh sssh ???) who married
Robert Lawrence or Laurence in: 1859 Mkt Harborough.
I have that his Parents are Joseph (from Northampton) and Mary (from Bowden Magna)
Mary Patrick and Robert Lawrence have one son Joseph Henry born 1860 Lubenham.
Right :D ;D
So follow them through the census -
1861 They are in West Langton and all details tally - age- names - pob etc... RG 9 2251
1871 They are in Hobbs Yard Mkt Hbr and again all details tally. RG10 3225
1881
Mary now down as a Widow............. unless my eyes are deceiving me!!!
W does stand for widow doesn't it... or is it an 'M' otherwise details are as hoped. RG11/3119
she even has a nephew with her to prove its the correct Mary.
1891
OH MY RG 12/2491 and guess what Robert is back !!!!!!!!!!!! ::) >:( :o
mind gone -- totally ---- :-\ >:( >:( >:( :(
then again they are in the 1901 still alive
but both gone by 1911...
trouble is I already buried Robert in 1872 !!! as per attchd...

Hi
The death record of Robert Alfred LAWRENCE in 1872, is that of a 0 year old, from FreeBMD.
So your Robert could be alive on the census....somewhere :)

Hi xin,
Have found something that could be worth looking into
On the 4th April 1881 a John Shaw otherwise known as R LAWRENCE was sentenced to 6 months at Leicester for obtaining money by false pretences.

EDIT: found a newspaper report, this guy was only 24.
Back to the drawing board :(

That could be his death Willsy :) will have a look.
The only worry is Market Bosworth - as against Market Harborough... I know its not that far away. I did find Mary's death in 1918 in Mkt Hbr. -
Funny you mention Prison sentences Claire - ;) I have spent some time this afternoon researching the Newspapers... cos I cannot think where else he could have been unless he was asleep in a 'Hayrick' or something. :) :)
This man does need a night on the newspapers I think.... trouble is if he changed his name !? then who knows.

Have his baptism details and parents marriage on a pdf if you want them too

Here you go Market Harborough
Joseph Laurence married Mary Cort 12 Mar 1835 Banns
Robert 22 Dec 1837 Joseph and Mary father a Chaise driver
Martha the same day
Elizabeth 14 Jul 1839
Henry 23 May 1841
Ann Eliza 12 Mar 1843
Harriet 21 May 1845
If you need details, the family seems to be there further down the line too and there are lots of BMD's, just let me know names :)
-
That's Brilliant. really appreciated. thank you
xin :) :)
I eventually sorted the son :) Joseph H born c 1860 died sadly in 1906 in Kettering.
he Married a Stella Albina Whittey.. and they had 2 daughters that lived. so that's nice and neat. :)
still no trace of Robert Lawrence in 1881 ( so definitely hiding / hospital/ prison/ fighting some war or other :) who knows...

:) hello
I filed the above - :) and moved on to the next one -- why - they are the craziest bunch - all with the same names and so close in age, I am ready for the mad house.
However:
I looked at John Patrick son of John Patrick and Mary Noble born Lubenham 1815 --
and I was sailing along lovely through all the Census 41 -51- 61 -- brilliant cos he didn't marry,
then
I came across the 1871 and found a John Patrick married to a Sarah of a similar age and found the marriage on free BMD -- but its NOT mine -- and couldn't find a.n.other in 1871 in Lubenham.
I then found my John in the 1881 still unmarried and so again there are two of a similar age in the same village..
I (phewwwwww) then found a possible for mine -- in '~Chilslehurst~' correct age etc, but doesn't state Lubenham, just Leicestershire...........
then... I found a death in 1888 age 73 and followed it through - it is a 'Leicestershire' death -
and Welford Rd burial - from Leicester County Lunatic Asylum ... St. Mary's.....
cannot find another death.
This death cert will only give informant and illness wont it ? Not place of birth...
oh dear, me.
I thought I had finished this lot. but no
These are Samuel Patricks other WIFE's lot. (don't ask :) :) )
will check for the Sarah married to the other John and see if I can find her as a widow in 1891
or my John anywhere else.
;D :-X ::) ::) ::)
