Hello,
Trying to find information on the family of Margaret Brennan bn about 1815 in Castlecommer/Castlecomer Kilkenny Ireland.

On the immigration list that I have about her arrival in NSW on the 9th November 1840 on the ship 'Royal Consort' her father is listed as John Brennan a collier, deceased and Ellen his wife living at the time in Castlecommer/Castlecomer . trying to find Ellen's maiden name if possible and the date of their marriage and any other children they might have had.

Do you know a townland where they lived or a nickname for your branch of Brennans.
There are lots John and Margaret Brennans around Castlecomer.

HI Healyj, 
I only know it is Castlecomer, no other township/townland it is the only information I have on where they lived. 
 Castlecomer being  full of Brennans  makes it so difficult to trace the right family.
Sorry that I can't give anymore information on them only what is in my original post although now I do have Margaret's mother maiden name, Ellen Clear.

Have you tried the RC registers for Castlecomer now available online at registers.nli.ie?  They gave baptisms from 1812. Since you have Margaret's parents names it shouldn't be too difficult to find her baptism and those of any siblings. Marriages seem to start in the 1830s, however, so there's probably no prospect of finding her parents marriage record or information on her grandparents.

See if this link works.  If it does, scroll down a bit, there should be a list of counties down right hand side.  Click on County Kilkenny.  Then under "Gravestone Photographs" there are three graveyards listed for Castlecomer.

Hi again,
Tried the www.from-ireland site but it seems my server won't let me in no matter what I do. I even tried getting it up through Google but the same thing happened.
Although on Google Images another site that had Castlecomer gravestones opened with no trouble but no Brennans could be found and almost all of the gravestones were unreadable.
But I am not giving up.

Hiya - not sure if it’s the same. But my grandmother is Margaret Brennan (maiden name) from Kilkenny with a mother Ellen
