I'd like a look up please for a Charlotte Webb aged 44 in Islington in 1841 with full census ref. Spouse should be Thomas. They may have a son Charles born abt 1827 Marylebone.
Thanks,
Fred

Thanks.
I'm not sure it's the right family.
I have a Charles born 1826 and age 30 in 1857 with parents Thomas and Charlotte. Thomas dead as of 1857 and Charlotte in Islington. Thomas a labourer in 1827.
I'll have a look for more baptisms to get more siblings.

The Newbury family isn't a geographical mtach for Islington/Marylebone.
I cannot see any further baptisms for children of Thomas and Charlotte. It's worth exploring the possibility that Thomas died early and Charlotte remarried, therefore appearing in 1841 and/or 1851 under a different surname.
What is the source for Charlotte's age in the original post?

The 1841 Newbury family was supplied as a potential match for the Newbury family Fred had posted,
to help him eliminate the family.

To eliminate 1x Charlotte . . . . .

Charlotte 24

The 1851 was given to me some time ago and I've always had a ? against it.
I'll check my tree for a reason I posted age as 44 in 1841. There is no note in my tree so I don't know now.
Thomas had died by 22 Jun 1851 - date of son's marriage.

Several possible deaths for Charlotte 1857 - 1861.
Not enough to work with.
Can we eliminate the 1851 Berkshire one for sure?
Fred.

Are they the right Charles Webb and mother Charlotte?
Anyway, there is a settlement exam for Charlotte Leech, age 72, 23 Aug 1860
Is in the Islington Rough Settlement Exam books, 1859-60
The info was given by her daughter Caroline
Has produced the marriage cert, 17 July 1842, of her mother to John Leech
Charlotte twice married, first to Thomas Webb (Caroline's father) in Paddington 43 years ago
Thomas died 30 years ago
Leech died 9 years ago
Mother has lived at 3 Felix Place for 16 years, rents it at £24 per yr + rates. Lives in the kitchen and lets off the house (4 rooms)

Hi John,
Thanks for looking at this one. A few things fit and a few don't.
I think it's fair to say Charlotte was not born in London/Middlesex.
With the possible marriage in 1816 and the death for Thomas about 1830 we so far have only the one baptism in 1827 for Charles senior.
I'm not even sure this is the right baptism for junior:
??
Charles Webb
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 13 Jun 1852
Father: Charles Webb [porter]
Mother: Mary Webb
Parish or Poor Law Union: Islington St Mary
Borough: Islington
Register Type: Parish Registers

Age in shipping record and place of origin fit 1827 baptism in Marylebone. Place of birth could be outside Middlesex as Charles was baptised at abt 5 mo.

Hi - I am researching the Webb family also and was excited to see this chat forum. Charlotte Eliza Webb married George Oxley and they travelled to Sydney with brother Charles and Mary Ann Webb in 1857. Their mother, Charlotte, after being widowed by Thomas, married William Starkey 20 Nov 1831, who was Charlotte Eliza's father but he died a year later. She went on to marry John Leech in 1842.
Would anyone have Charles baptism church record 13 Jun 1852 at St Mary's? I have his sister Mary Ann's record. Fred mentioned the baptism record recording father Charles as a Porter - could this read Plasterer?
John (jonw65) mentioned the Islington Rough Settlement Exam books 1859-60. Is there anyway I could get a copy of the insert about Charlotte. Also could I get a copy of the actual 1851 census record stating Charles Webb unmarried 24 was actually a Plasterer. This could be how George Oxley met his sister as he was a Plasterer also.
Thanks Lynette

A number of trees on Ancestry have an elder sister to Charles named Caroline born c1822.
They also have Charlotte as being from Nuffield in Oxfordshire.
They are in St Pancras in 1841, and Charles is definitely a Plasterer in 1851.
Charlotte born in Oxfordshire in 1851.
In 1861 Charlotte LEACH is in St Mary's Islington. This is where her birthplace is given as Nuffield. Has two MANNS grandchildren with her that were her daughter Caroline's. Caroline married George MANNS in 1841.
