Hi
I am unsure if Whitgift was in East or West Yorkshire in 1805.
I am trying to find any details of one of my ancestors named Admiral Hanson, who I believe may have died in 1805, probably at Whitgift, Yorkshire
Any help appreciated

Any idea what Admiral Hanson's first name was - or was it actually Admiral?

Hi, it was actually Admiral and he was born in Rothwell (Fleet Mill) in 1767. He had children born in Selby, one named Thomas Hanson became a mariner. I suspect that Admiral Hanson worked on the river Ouse.

Hi, I suspect this is his Baptism if you don't have it
"Admiral son of Edward Hanson boatman bapd the 13 May 1767 & born the 28 Mar 1767 last, from Fleet mill"
Taken from Yorkshire: Rothwell - Registers of Baptisms and Burials, 1763-1812
Frank.

Hi BumbleB
Thank you very much for this. I assume it means he must have drowned in the river Ouse.
The information is much appreciated. Also a thank you to others who have responded including Frank. Yes, I did have the birth record
