This is a badly damaged photograph of Sgt Antoni Mentlak (right) and unknown friend and was taken in England in the early 1940s. Can any skilled person restore it to a usable condition in black and white please.
It is for a memorial site and a copy to his family.
Many thanks

Any chance of a better scan.
This is how it looks close up.
-
I will try to get a better scan - that is as it was sent to me, but I will ask for another. Thanks for your interest
-
It needs to be scanned at 600dpi.

Hello Jim1
Sorry, I have tried but I cannot get a better scan. I don't need a large picture so if you could just remove the white streaks across the faces, that would be great. If that's not possible well, thanks for trying anyway.

Not sure if this is what you wanted - :-\
I cropped out his friend as I couldn't do his face without making up stuff which wasn't visible.
Unfortunately I don't think you will be able to enlarge this much with such a tiny file.
Cheers, Wiggy

Thank you ladies and/or gentlemen
This may not be brilliant by your standards, but when the best you have is what I offered up, then it is brilliant by mine! I didn't need a picture that could be enlarged. I just needed a picture that didn't look like some kid had tipp-exed the faces. Thanks again.

I didn't take it that way at all :D Sounds very grateful to me! ;)
I think what Elliven is saying is that, considering what we were given to work with, it isn't too bad an outcome!! :) Isn't it?? ;)

Sorry! Wrong end of the night to be attempting to use my brain! I've changed it, sadly I can't find a delete function :-\

Artognou,
I think you have misunderstood. I am genuinely grateful that these people have done a good job for me. The reference to a picture that looked like some kid had tipp-exed it was to the original photo that I supplied. I was just unable to get a better original and the two copies that were done for me were so much better than I had. My expression of thanks was genuine NOT sarcastic
-
No need to apologise- I understand the way you must have read it but I really am happy with the result. As long as no one is offended by it, there is no problem and I really am happy with the result

Think I have removed some insignia in error - I couldn't make out if that 'shape' above the medals was supposed to be there or not- now I have a closer look, I see both have it so it probably was - Beg pardon to Antoni!
-
Hello Wiggy
The "shape" is the Polish gapa which is a flying creature the Poles wear like the RAF wear wings. It is important insignia to flying crew, but for the purposes of the photograph, it is not critical - and I am still happy with it!

Thank you Esseco,
I have been overwhelmed by the responses to my request for an improved photo.

A couple of tries from me :-\

Thank you Terry H,
I cannot believe the response I have had and the quality of these pictures produced from a very poor original.
