Hi everyone,
This is my first full posting so I hope someone out there can help me.
My 3X great grandfather was a Thomas Daugherty who was in the 82nd regiment in Tynemouth.
Where is this place Tynemouth??
The year is 1810.

Welcome - think you might have posted to the wrong board though :)
Tynemouth is in Northumberland (as it would have been then), and there was a barracks there.
See www.genuki.org.uk for some easily accessible information and useful links.

Hi Jimbo, and welcome to RootsChat. :) :)
I'm going to move this topic across to the Northumberland Board where you should find people able to help.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask on the topic. It can all be a bit confusing to begin with. ;)

Hi jimbo75,
Have you seen the entry in the actual register for Tynemouth? If not, you can see a transcript on familysearch
https://familysearch.org/search/image/index#uri=https%3A%2F%2Ffamilysearch.org%2Frecapi%2Fsord%2Fwaypoint%2F9K5M-L29%3A13617901%3Fcc%3D1309819
They were only at Tynemouth briefly, before being deployed to Gibraltar.
Thomas may therefore have been involved in the Peninsula war /Napoleonic Wars.

In April, 1810, the second battalion moved from Hull
to Tynemouth.
more history of the regiment, with a picture of the uniform circa 1815:

I would check to see if you can find any attestation papers or army pension if he survived (commercial sites) Also medal rolls.

Hi Fidderslass,
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, there did not appear to be any Thomas Docherty or Daugherty
born in that short time in Tynemouth.
A cousin has said they originally came from Londonderry.
I can focus now on that location.
Thanks,
jimbo75
