Hi,
I wondered if anyone knows what a Personal private valet, Page in Presence did exactly.
I have an ancestor who worked for the King in the 1920's and he moved to the royal household around this time.
Many thanks

I know this sound silly but going on what a car valeter does, is this the same do we think?

Hi Zoe
A valet was a male servant who attended a nobleman or gentleman see the following which is a useful page to bookmark:

Thanks for the reply,
It say a Valet was someone who attended a nobleman or gentleman, so he must have attended the King. He was quite important then I guess.

Zoe,
You should rent the movie "Gosford Park", you will see what a valet does and learn about the life of a servant and the different positions.
A valet travelled with whoever they were working for, doing everything from running his bath to pressing his clothes, you name it, they did it.
There are footman and then valet's and then you could become a Butler.
