Can anyone help me to find anything about Pigneys in Cambridge in 1800s. The daughter was Mary Ann and the father William.
-
When & where was Mary Ann born
-
On the Census she says Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. On the 1859 marriage certificate she gives her age as 34 and she was living in Hulme, Manchester.
-
Possible Baptism in 1827 :-\

Family search has possible siblings for this one on the same film number

I was interested in this but wasn't sure because I had her birthdate as 1825. There is a marriage between a William Pigney and Mary Scruby 1 Jan 1822 at St Benedict in Cambridge. I wasn't confident enough to be sure it was my family. It doesn't seem to be that common a name in Cambridge.

Mary Anns baptism was at Holy Trinity Cambridge, abode King Street. Fathers occupation Porter
I can't see any Pigneys in 1841 Cambridge though suspect it may be her mother Marys death in June qtr 1846 Chesterton RD
-
On the marriage cert she says he is a farmer but who knows whether that is true or not.

I don't subscribe to that site, I pay enough to ancestry and find my past. I will have a look at that census

Freereg is free, so is familysearch ;D
-
When I looked at it they offered a free trial and then 5 euros a month payable annually. Am I doing it wrong?
-
looked at again and has the same info I found on find my past. I blame the heat for earlier failure.
-
Freereg are transcriptions being done by volunteers and should be free to everyone. Familysearch talk about logging on but I never have. FindMyPast have Cambridgeshire transcripts as you have probably found.
I think that it is your Mary Ann, particularly as Emma is also in Lancashire. I would not worry too much about occupation changes of their father either. My Cambridge lot flitted between cab drivers, publicans and farmers ;D

This is very interesting and I will look into it further. I have also emailed the person who changed the name on the Census. Thanks for the help.

This marriage is very briefly mentioned in Cambridge Chronicle on FindMyPast
There is also mention of William - Cambridge Chronicle and Journal 16 January 1829

I will look at the newspaper too.
