Just wondering where I am able to view/buy Cornwall birth death and marriage certificates (or indexs). I have looked on the Cornwall OPC Database and there is no mention of my ancestors on the system, so I was just wondering where else I could look. Thanks :)

You can buy cd`s from this site - www.parishregister.co.uk
And for Nonconformist records there is this site - www.cornwall-legacy.com
Forgot to say for further help try contacting www.cornwallfhs.com

Thanks for that! :) Can't seem to find anything on them on the parish registers website. I'm starting to think maybe I won't be able to find the certificates as maybe they don't even exist! I know the family was quite poor at the time so that could be a reason why. Might have to buy a few CDs and hope they are on there!

You`re welcome :) You won`t find certificates pre 1837, if you post details of who you are looking for and where in Cornwall they came from we may be able to help you :)
-
Thanks for that. Will have a look at my family members after 1837. :) Might be a bit difficult to find ones before then! Especially about 1790!

There are Bishops Transcripts for most areas in Cornwall and some of them date back to the 1600`s, the ones I`m currently working on are mid 1700`s :) If you know the area your ancestors came from go to this site www.cornwall-opc.org - all areas have an Online Parish Clerk that you can contact if you need help.....it`s free ;D
-
I'll have a look now! Lucky I know the places they came from :)
-
Good luck! :) Don`t forget, you can always ask for help here if you need it ;)

Of course, post 1st July 1837, there's always FreeBMD?

Oh.......I forgot about that! :-[ :)

;D ;D
With all searches, remember that less is more!
If you try to be specific, you might not get any hits.
Try soundex for surnames; leave out forenames; expand the areas searches; expand the timeframe.
Better still, post the names here, and we can try to help! ;)

Thanks everyone :) ;D ;D :D
