Not sure if i put this on the right forum, but i,m looking for any info from the Powell family lived in Scotland, daughter Margarer Powell married Lawrence Lanni 1899, trying to find her parents and siblings, think they came from Ireland James + Bridget ?..

The index of marriages at Scotland's People lists the marriage of a Margaret Powell to a Mr Lanni, whose given name was not Lawrence or anything else beginning with 'L', and in 1890, not 1899.
If this is your Margaret, her marriage certificate will tell you the full names of her (and her husband's) parents, including her mother's maiden name. It will also tell you her age at marriage, which will give you an approximate year of birth, and the date and place of her parents' marriage. If they were married in Scotland, their marriage certificate will tell you the names of her grandparents. You can use her age and parents' names to look for her in a census, which will tell you where her parents were born.
All this information is availabale online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It's a pay-per-view site, but you can get up to 5 certificates for the minimum investment of £7.

Hello All,
The marriage 1890. that Forfarian, mentions in the above post is Florence Lanni, to Margaret Powell, 1890. at Milton, Lanark, on Scotlandspeople.
Now by coincedence there is a marriage 3/Nov/1890. St Josephs, Catholic Church, Glasgow, between a Lawrence Nanni, and a Margaret Powell, also Scotlandspeople.
Looks to me that this is the same couple.

When I first went to Edinburgh University, in 1964, a popular eatery with the students was Dante Lannie's cafe in Forrest Road. It was cheap and cheerful - pie, beans and chips, etc., before we all discovered Chinese and Indian food, and Dante himself was a big, jolly, cheerful man.
Out of curiosity I have just checked him out on Scotlandspeople and he died in Edinburgh in 1991, aged 61. His full name was Dante Benedetto Lannie, but as it's so recent there's "no image available".
