Title: DANGERS surname
Post by: IWD001 on Wednesday 24 June 15 10:27 BST (UK)
Hi All,

my name is Ian Dangers and as you can see, not a usual surname.

I am looking for info dating back to approx. 1857 when the surname cannot be traced further back than this by myself. My bloodline goes back to Gustav Dangers who had a son Bodo Jean Dangers. the Surname does come up in the 12th Century in the House of Anjou and it is said that the family were part of French Royalty or connected to it and had to flee France during the French revolution when the name was allegedly changed from d'Angers to Dangers. Apparently d'Angers means from the town of Angers in the north west of France. Please can someone see if their is any more info available to the above people. Gustav Dangers's last area that he stayed in is Brezelenz in old Germany which is Bremen today. Thank you

Hallo Ian,

Welcome to RootsChat.

Just to let you know that Breselenz is not, unfortunately, Bremen,  but a part of the town of
Jameln, belonging to the borough of Lüchow-Dannenberg in Lower Saxony.

See this link: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breselenz
which is unfortunately only in German but it will give you an idea of the area.

And this posting on there by Neil David Johnson;
Hi, i am a direct descendant of Henry Furnival Lewer through his daughter Henrietta. I am most interested in expanding my family tree as far as possible by what means i have at my disposal, so any links to other family trees would be most appreciated, and i am more than willing to to the same . Henrietta married my twice great grandfather Bodo Jean Dangers. Thank you for any help given in this matter.

Trish :)
