He has disappeared from this planet.....well as far as I can search that is.
Parents Thomas and Margaret Humphreys. 4 th son. Walter/Percy/Phillip/Harold + a cpla others. He married Olive may Millward in 1919 and they had 3 kids. BUT Olive married again in 1947 but I cant find out what happened to Harold. he was alive after 1929 as the had a new child then. Any help...........thanks

Hi - don't suppose you have his date of birth? As you have probably seen there are around 5 or 6 possible death records. The only one I found that included DOB was the following..
Name: Harold Humphreys
Birth Date: 30 May 1896
Date of Registration: Mar 1977
Age at Death: 80
Registration district: South Glamorgan
Inferred County: South Glamorgan
Volume: 28
Page: 0665s
As Harold's birth registration record is Q3 1896, he could have been born in May - there are plenty of marriages for Harold Humphreys in Wales between 1929 and 1977 as well!! Not going to be an easy nut to crack me thinks
Cheers

Hi Kev and thanks. My Gdad was born in Plymouth in July/sept according to free BMD in 1896. now the problem I have is there are quite a few Humphreys in SE Wales. His parents lived near panteg for a while b4 heading off to S Africa for the wars then they came back to Plymouth and after a while back to panteg. So Its my thought , its a diff Harold.
-
Yep - it is a shame these records are based on the date you registered the birth rather than the actual birth date because it makes it that much more difficult for us - in your case Harold could have been born as early as 1st April and registered on 1st July or 29th September and registered on 30th September - I guess that is part of the challenge:)

BUT Olive married again in 1947 but I cant find out what happened to Harold.
Did Olives 1947 marriage say she was a widow
-
Interesting point Rosie. I do remember reading somewhere that her new marriage had her surname as both maiden and married names....Humphreys/Millward.

Just a heads up we are related in some way as my Harold is my Great Uncle. My Grandfather is Arthur Humphreys, Harolds Brother.
Where do you fit in as I have a whole tree of humphreys dating back to 18xx

Hi Neil. This could be fun as I haven't an Arthur as Harolds bro???
Walter, Percy, Phillip, Harold, Maggie, Fanny, and maybe a Robert????

Father is Thomas Henry Humphreys and Mother was Margaret Ann Francis
6 Sons as far as I can tell and one daughter
Charles T (1883), Walter (1889), Percy (1890), Phillip (1894), Harold (1897), Maggie (Margaret) (1898) and Arthur (My Grand father) (1884)
Now there does seem to be a bit of an issue between Phillip and Percy as they got mixed up a little so whether there is a another Son and Percy/Phillip are same person I cannot tell.
Where do you fit into this ?

According to the 1911 census, they all moved back to panteg Wales between the 1901/1911 censuses. I have no recode of an eldest bro called anything but Walter? After Maggie The 1901census has fanny, b 1900 and then 1911 census a Robert b1902. No mention of any Arthur??.
My gd was Harold, b1896 in Plymouth, married olive may millward and then Harold disappears. I know my gran remarried a boag in 1947 in pompey as that's where I as brought up til my parents divorced in 64,. I now live in east Cornwall. Want me to pm my Tel number?

I can't find any of them in the 1891 census as I think they were all in SA, boer war etc. But why isn't Arthur in the 1901 census.??
-
A tree on Ancestry has the Humphreys family on ,( owner is a Gary Humphries ) with Charles Thomas Humphreys born 1883 in Farnham Surrey as is Arthur , Charles is in Shropshire in 1901, and ten years later in the Military, dying in Panteg in1953 There's no 1891 census mentioned on the tree,
Maybe Arthur stayed in SA when the family returned to UK, and so is absent on1901 census?
-
My Humphreys ancestor, Charles is from shrops, not surrey.and died in 1940 in Pontypool. There a a Cpl of Humphreys in the se Wales area not related as my gggd was Charles Humphreys b 1831/0 in Newport shrops and was a copper.

Neil hasn't been on Rootschat since 02 October 15 ,he should be getting reminders that replies have been posted here and you would have thought he would come back online and respond?
Maybe a Mod can tell us if his email preferences are set up for him to be notified?
