Title: Harry Flint - York and Lancashire Regiment 1901
Post by: forgetmenot14 on Friday 19 June 15 18:42 BST (UK)
Hello all,

I would like to know where I can find any military record's regarding my Great uncle Harry Flintborn 1881 Doncaster, South Yorkshire. I have seen on Ancestry that he joined the York and Lancaster Regiment in 1901 aged about 20 but as it was before WW1 i'm not sure where to look and I don't know anything else about his time in the army.

Any info as alway's very much appreciated

He was one of the members of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion (later known as Territorials) who volunteered to serve as a Regular for one year (or longer). In peace time VBs attended one evening a week with a two week summer camp. Very few records of the VBs were kept other than those joining a Volunteer Service Company for the Boer War, as in this case.
