We are currently dealing with interring my parents ashes with my late sister who is buried in All Saints Cemetery, Maidenhead.
While I was in touch with 'outdoor Facilities' I discovered that there is a Clara Jane Cleal buried there as well as my sister, great grand parents and great great grandparents, however I have no idea if Clara Jane is a relation and I am trying to discover if she is or not.
Clara died in 1945, I looked at her Will which says she was a widow (but not who to !) She lived at 53 Park Street, Maidenhead. She left her estate between her two nieces (not equally) One was Ethel Freda Toms (b.1898) who lived in Hanson Gardens, Southall, Middlesex and the other was Violet Ida Turnbar or Tumbar (?) . The executer was Ethel's husband John Henry Toms (b 1896 )
BTW her estate was £631 1s 7d which wasn't bad for 1945 I guess.
I thought if I could find John & Ethels marriage I may have been able to work backward to find a maiden name for Clara and then find a marriage, but no luck so far...
Can anyone help or offer suggestions please
TIA

William Cleal was a widower age 70 when he married Clara in Southall.
Clara J was 48 - her father was William (decd) a Chairmaker

Yes, indeed it could - I have a William Cleal, that would make Clara a Great Aunt by marriage, now I'll have to try and track down where William is buried.....
I have searched Free BMD several times, with never anything recognised, not even her name, how did you do it so quickly ?
Many thanks for your help !

I am pleased she fits in with the family and wasn't just a friend with nowhere to be interred. ;D
I just searched freebmd under marriages with surname Cleal and spouse Clara J and nothing else selected. It only gave me two matches and the other was a female Cleal.
Maybe William was buried with his first wife, is it his death in 1920 Maidenhead RD though age does not quite match the marriage detail.

Ah, I think I can see what happened, I've jumped the gun. I have two Williams, father & son. The son is definitely William T, (and I think was married to a Fanny) but I have no middle initial for the father. However the father was born in 1842 which would make him 75 when he married Clara. His first wife was Roseanna, my great, great grandmother who he is buried with. Roseanna died in 1914 and William in 1920.
So poor Clara had quite a few years of widowhood but there is no stray grave for me to try and find...by the looks of things anyway...

It does not help when they name their children with the same first names as themselves :) At least the surname is not to common. Glad its sorted and you know where he is buried.

LOL Tell me about it, I have a family of Discombe's in Devon and I think there is a John Discombe in every one, neither are they very far away from each other, nightmare
BMD doesn't seem to bring up results to anything for me, even when I test by putting in known facts and I can't work out quite why....it's a long time since I looked at family history and something has obviously changed....
Thank you for your help
