Title: Jersey Baptism, Constantine James Kasperowicz
Post by: sirsimon on Friday 12 June 15 17:30 BST (UK)
Hello

I am writing this post as a request from a relative, the husband of a cousin in fact.

According to the census and certificates, Constantine/Constantin James Kasper was born in 1863 or 1864 in Jersey as Constantine James Kasperowicz, but he changed his name when he came to Lambeth, London.

I would appreciate it if someone could help find a baptism for him. According to my relative, Constantine's parents were Alfred Onufrius Kasperowicz and his wife Julia.

He also said that he did an ancestry dna test and it gave a 50% Eastern European descent, meaning that it is likely the Kasperowicz were from there, possibly Russia or Czechoslovakia

my thanks

Possible Grandparents Marriage and Fathers Birth;

Marriage Reg, June 1842, Portsea I, 7 196
KASPEROWICZ, Omiphrius and Lucile LE SCELLEUR

Birth Reg, Sept 1842, Portsea I, 7 134
KASPEROWICZ, Onufius Lucyan

Someone has these Certs;
On Birth Cert Father Polish Refugee

Marriage Cert is hard to read;
His Occp I think is "late Government Clerk at Wilka?, Poland", Father JOSEPH, Occp Gentleman
Hers JOHN, late Master Mariner of Jersey

I also found;
Name: Constantin J Kasperowicz
Residence Date:    10 Jan 1888
Station: N E
Company:    London and South Western
Description: Workmen: various locomotive and carriage and wagon depots, register No. 5 1863 - 1894

Now its strange but Familysearch.Org has;
1841 Census  Joseph Kasperowicz,
Birth:1811
Foreign
Residence:1841
St Saviour, Jersey, Channel Islands

But I cant find this on Anc.

Trish :)

Hello
I am researching Polish exiles who came to Jersey, I have Onufry on my list, he was also a member of  "Polish National Lodge" based in London.
