Hi,
I am hoping that someone may be able to help with some information about my Great great grandmother Ann Nowland.
As far as I have found she was born in Cork around 1818-1820,and came to Australia on the Royal Saxon as a Bounty Immigrant in November 1842.
The names of her mother and father would be great and any other information would also be appreciated.
Regards Dexter.

Who did she go on to marry, do you know when/where she died? Sometimes if you search Trove.au for an obituary it cant tell you more clues about exactly where in Ireland they came from.
I notice she was travelling with two other female domestic servant Nowlands. Who did they marry? I'd dig up their deaths/obituaries too
Nowland ? 28 Domestic Servant
Nowland Anne 20 Domestic Servant
Nowland Mary 22 Domestic Servant

How do you know any of them were born in Cork?

Dexter have a look at www.nationalarchives.ie at Tithe Applotment & Griffith Valuation. There are no entries for Nowland surname in Cork. If you search under All Counties you will see the different ones that had the surname recorded. Because Ann left from Cork it doesnt mean she was born there.
Civil Registration began in Ireland in 1864 so you would have to rely on Church records for Baptism, depending also on denomination. The Roman Catholic Parish records are due to come on line on 8th July from The National Library of Ireland & will be free to search. :)

Hi, Whiteout7 and Ballydw,
Thank you both for your interest in Ann Nowland. I have since found her name on the Tasmanian Archives listed on the Bounty System for the ship Royal Saxon, where it states that her Native Place was Cork,so that is all I can find so far.
Regards Dexter.

The parish records won't help as you have no idea where in Cork she comes from, they won't be searchable by name only by parish, and even if you find some Ann Nowlans how will you know which one is her?
You need to find a marriage or death record to find a place in Cork and / or parents names, even siblings might help.
